Edge Cases
Highlighting surprising network science research, and applications of network science in unconventional domains.
The Concept
Showcasing the structural and computational versatility of network science across unexpected, interdisciplinary, and historically non-quantitative domains.
While network science is inherently interdisciplinary, research in the field is often siloed by specialty or domain. Edge Cases is a satellite symposium at CCS 2026 showcasing the work of emerging scholars applying network science in surprising or unconventional domains. The event features research in fields that have historically been qualitative or peripheral to mainstream network science. By highlighting these edge cases of the discipline, we hope to encourage creative cross-pollination in network and complex systems science, and inspire new collaborations across less connected problem spaces.
